I had several teachers respond to my survey. It seems as though the main reason teachers don’t/wont’ use technology is the lack of! We consider PISD a very “techy” district, however teachers don’t feel the same way! The teachers feel that it is a hassle to “check out” equipment EVERY time you want to use it. I will agree with that!! Now, all teachers have a couple of computers in their room, but they have to check out elmos, camera and such. I believe teachers would use it more if they had it at their fingertips. Another answer I got alot was…”It doesn’t ever work right” NOW being a TECHY I can agree and disagree. Technology doesn’t always work the way you want it to. HOWEVER with just a little knowledge you can usually figure out what the problem is. I think that is a problem with the teachers on my campus, they hook something up…YIKES it doesn’t work and it’s the end of the world. They don’t know to make sure you have the cables plugged in correctly, or to F8 the laptop to make the projector work etc. One questions on the survey was, What can I do to make you use technology more? More than one response was something along the lines of ”get us more computers or I would like a smartboard. “ OK, my name is SABRINA…but I can’t make magic happen!!!! :)
