wow. A full answer to your question would need pages. Before I move too much further with this I would have to have some sort of idea as to what you consider success with implementing.
and as a disclaimer I am not speaking as a representative of the district, probably the opposite. I just hang out in a classroom with kids all day. There are officials from our district that could give you an "official" answer. Suzanne Patty could give you an answer from an administrator's point of view.
technologically speaking; the CSCOPE site stability seems to have leveled out and is functioning pretty well, there have been lots of issues in the past there. Teacher machines need to be reasonably modern to navigate the site, we have some teachers that have technical difficulty accessing all portions of the site because of this.
I would absolutely suggest some staff development before implementation. I would suggest that all administration and faculty be on the same "page" as to what the expectations are for CSCOPE implementation. If you listen to the podcast linked here Dale talks about different methods of implementation.

If you want to give me a bit of direction with what type of success you are referring to I'll be happy to type away. I may still do a bit of rambling about this anyway in the next couple of days. I have both positive and negative thoughts and experiences with/about CSCOPE.

I just listened to the teachers discussing their experiences with CSCOPE and I felt the need to respond. A comment was made that CSCOPE does not help but hinders new teachers. I have currently been reassigned to a grade I have never taught before and I am self contained. I have never taught math before and CSCOPE has a wealth of information when it comes to explaining what I am supposed to teach. I use CSCOPE simply as a resource and I ALWAYS use the book and whatever else I need to get the lesson taught properly. I can log into CSCOPE at home or after hours and I don't have to bother the other teachers for ideas or beg the MASTERFUL teachers who don't really have time for new teachers. I kinda like that!

I do have some video. wordpress will not let me use the youtube player. I have the file posted here also. Thanks for the offer to post on parisisd.net, but I'm trying to get it all on the dolphinswimclub.net/star.htm page. I just figured how to get a video file there that could be downloaded. The .mv4 file doesn't seem to work there (I'll have to do some research on why not.) I did manage to get a small .mov file there. I'll keep tinkering with it.

I'm guessing you have some type of video file. Due to space barriers on the current website and the blogsite's refusal to post multimedia, I currently put my files on the old PHS web server. If you'd like to send it to me, I'll import it and send you the link.

thanks, it was actually pretty fun to create. I like the imovie software and am looking forward to the next episode. I'm running a parallel blog on blogger and the youtube player dropped right in the blog. I'm guessing there is some sort of work-around to put the players in wordpress also, if you figure it out let me know.

The session was quite enjoyable. It is always hard to predict how an open ended conversation on a broad topic will turn out. There were definite opinions offered. Those who were present could sense the passion and frustration of being in the teaching profession.

Maybe we could start a topic suggestion thread to stir up some ideas. Off hand I can think of a few: Teaching in the digital age, Ideas for teaching with limited technology, Is technology helping or hurting our students ability to think and problem solve? What does technology REALLY look like n the classroom? Those are just a few that popped into my head.

Just my two cents worth :)
